VOLUNTEER APPLICATION
WDN welcomes and appreciate your interest to be a volunteer for our organization. Before you can start to actively participate, we like to have all new volunteers attend an orientation to learn more about donor awareness. The volunteer orientation program provides you with basic organ donation information you need to staff the WDN booths at county fairs, health fairs and special events. Once you have submitted your volunteer application you will be put on a list to contact when the next volunteer orientation is scheduled. If you have any questions, contact 414-805-9977.

What is your connection to donation or transplant?

EventsStaffing and assisting with any number of public events. There are a variety of opportunities.
Health FairsStaffing a display table and answering questions about organ donation at the State Fair and health fairs at area businesses and organizations. These typically last for several hours, but volunteers are asked to offer only two to three hours of staffing. You will have opportunities to participate in training sessions for this.
Materials DistributionDistributing brochures and posters in pharmacies, libraries, DMV sites, churches and other locations in your community.
NewsletterOur quarterly newsletter for donor families has opportunities for both donor families and transplant recipients to submit information and articles.
Office SupportMailings and other projects occassionally need to be done at the WDN office at Froedtert Hospital.
PresentationsSchools, churches and various community organizations often request speakers to share information about donation and transplantation. These groups like to hear from people who have been personally affected by organ donation and transplant. Most groups look for presentations of 15-30 minutes in length, plus time for questions. You will have opportunities to participate in training sessions for this.
Memory BoxesEach new donor family is presented with a memory box, which needs to be decorated. The WDN supplies the boxes and volunteers are needed to decorate them by painting, decoupage, stenciling or other art forms they enjoy. The work can be done at home.
Quilt CoordinatorsNow that we have four completed quilts and a fifth under construction, we need volunteers to serve as traffic managers to coordinate displaying the quilts. This person will be responsible for getting our quilts to fairs, churches, libraries, civic groups, DMV offices – wherever we can arrange to have them. Volunteers will have to be present when the quilt is on display and someone will have to be responsible for acknowledging new squares and actual quilt construction. This can be done by several individuals, rather than just one, or by committee.
Hospital OutreachSpeaking and visiting hospital staff with our Hospital Development Coordinators to share your personal story related to donation or transplantation. You will have opportunities to participate in training sessions for this.
Threads of CompassionVolunteer group that knits or crochets comfort shawls for future Wisconsin Donor Network organ and tissue donor families. Any skill level is welcome to participate. Group meets at the Conference Center on the Froedtert Hospital grounds once a month, a day session and an evening session. Pattern and yarn are provided, all you need to bring is your talent and choice of tool.
